The School further explores multi-disciplinary perspectives on ancient Graeco-Roman, Aegean and Near Eastern civilisations including ancient languages. Our Grimwade Centre for Cultural Materials Conservation investigates new areas and innovative practices in instrumentation and analysis, policy and programs in the area of the preservation of cultural materials.

Classics and Archaeology covers such topics as archaeology, religious, political and social life in ancient societies, classical literature and mythology, art and architecture and a range of course options. The Gender Studies program at The University of Melbourne offers students the potential to learn about issues such as sexual difference, gender equity, queer politics, and sexuality, from a variety of thought-provoking and provocative perspectives. The Grimwade Centre for Cultural Materials Conservation is the only centre of its kind in Australia, combining both the theory and practice of cultural material conservation. History and Philosophy of Science is a discipline which brings together perspectives from the history of science and medicine, the philosophy of science, and the social studies of science and technology.
